The Department of Health – Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (DOH-RITM) bared on Monday that the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) testing kits stocks on hand are 2,000.
During a Senate hearing, chaired by Senator Imee Marcos, the DOH was questioned on the availability of testing kits and the measures they have in curtailing the virus.
Dr. Alathea de Guzman of DOH mentioned that the country is under Door 4 sub-level 1 – which means local transmission occurred – of the Four-Door Policy in relation to the COVID-19.
Meantime, Senator Nancy Binay asked the department why some companies and local government units were the ones to disclose some details on the COVID-19-positive case.
Dr. Gemma Arellano, DOH resource person, said that the information was requested to be withheld.
Further, Marcos expressed worry that the P2-billion supplementary budget for containing the virus would be mishandled.
The panel asked the health agency how many stocks of testing kits the DOH have.
De Guzman added that there are incoming 4,500 extraction kits from the World Health Organization good for 2,000 individuals.
