DOH confirms 2 more cases of Covid-19 in PH; people infected rise to 5


The Department of Health (DOH) confirmed two new cases of COVID-19 in a press briefing on Friday—making the total cases of people infected in the coutry increase to 5.

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III disclosed the two confirmed cases were both Filipino males; the fourth was a 48 year-old man and the fifth, a 62 year-old.

He shared the two are currently admitted to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine; the 40 year-old is in “stable” condition with travel history in Japan while the 62 year-old, ridden with hypertension and diabetes, is exhibiting severe symptoms of pneumonia without any travel history.

The health secretary added that contact tracing is already in motion as they are in close coordination with all concerned local government units.

Duque then pleaded to the public to observe “preventative measures” against the disease which include: proper hand-washing, coughing etiquette, and social distancing.
