Salceda: Money changers may be part of problem amid dollar smuggling issue

Amid the issue of foreigners bringing large amounts of cash into the country, Albay 2nd District Rep. Joey Salceda said he thinks money changers help the foreigners bring in cash into the Philippines' banking system.

When asked in a press forum on Thursday whether the money can easily be entered into the country's banking system, Salceda said there is a possibility that money changers are part of the problem as the cash are brought in not in peso, but in dollars.

Meantime, Salceda downplayed fears that people will go after “clean money” once stricter measures are implemented to regulate the flow of cash.
