Palace on POGO industry amid Senate probe: 'Review, evaluate, streamline'

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said on Thursday that the Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs) policies should be reviewed, evaluated, and streamlined to stop unlawful actions associated with the industry.

Panelo disclosed that the President is considering the suspension of POGOs amid the senate probe initiated by Senator Richard Gordon but had not made conclusive statements on being against it.

He added that the POGO industry has been generating income for the country—earning an estimated total of P17 billion in the last three years in comparison to the P57 million earned through online gambling before it.

The presidential spokesperson stressed that if the crimes associated with POGOs can be stopped, the industry itself is “good.”
