The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) will help in defeating terrorists using the Anti-Terrorism Bill, the agency's Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff Brigadier General Edgard Arevalo said.
Arevalo, the AFP spokesperson, thanked the Senate for the passage of the Anti-Terrorism Bill on third and final reading on February 26.
The measure is an amendment of the Human Security Act.
Arevalo added that they understand concerns such as the abuse of the law, saying the AFP advocates human rights.
Senator Panfilo Lacson sponsored Senate Bill No. 1083 or the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020. Senators Risa Hontiveros and Francis Pangilinan voted “no” on the bill's approval due to human rights concerns.
