Palace on BI chief amid pastillas scandal: 'No one is exempted in investigation'

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo stated in a press briefing on Tuesday that “no one is exempted from investigation” when asked if Bureau of Immigration (BI) Chief Jaime Morente is excluded from scrutiny amid the “pastillas” bribery scandal.

Panelo stressed that anyone involved in “corruption” will undergo the proper investigation under the law.

The presidential spokesperson also disclosed that the President will give Morente a “chance to do something” with the BI.

The “pastillas” scheme involved BI officers who received rolled up money from Chinese nationals in exchange for their smooth passage in the country.
