Security guard Archie Paray, the hostage-taker in a mall in Greenhills, San Juan City on Monday, was arrested evening of the same day.
Paray faced authorities and media after the 60-70 hostages were released around 8PM.
Paray, security guard for two years, revealed alleged corrupt practices in the mall's management and the agency he was under, SASCOR Armor Security Agency.
He narrated that security officials receive bribes from mall tenants and some security guards were fired without explanations or investigation.
He added that there was no rotation scheme implemented among the personnel and it was only a “strategy” of his superiors to protect mall tenants.
Paray shared that he decided to have a hostage because the situation, which led to the sacking of some guards, has been going on since December 2019.
