22 more Filipinos in quarantined Japan ship recover from COVID-19

22 Filipinos have recovered from the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) they contracted on board the Diamond Princess cruise ship in Japan.

Health Assistant Secretary Maria Rosario Vergeire disclosed the 22 Filipinos were discharged from a hospital facility in Japan after having recovered from the virus that infected 80 of the 538 Filipino crew and passengers of the Japanese-owned cruise ship.

Last week, the first 10 that recovered were sent back to the Philippines.

The Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases will meet Tuesday to discuss when they will be repatriated back to the Philippines.

Vergeire also disclosed that 14 of the 445 Filipinos repatriated recently had shown signs and symptoms of the COVID-19 while undergoing quarantine at the New Clark City in Capas, Tarlac.
