Senator Bong Go said the private sector can help alleviate the hardship of the workforce amid the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic through early release of 13th month pay and one-month suspension of payment of bills and basic utilities.
Go stated that even if the 13th month pay is just “prorated”, it will be a big help to the Filipino workers.
The senator also suggested imposing a “moratotium” or a suspension of payment on rental fees and providing more flexible work arrangement for employees especially during the indefinite Metro Manila community quarantine.
Go further urged the private sector to provide aid to smaller business amid the crisis.
He added that as the pandemic continues to grow, the best way to deal with it is to counter it with a “whole-of-society” approach.
As of Monday morning, Go also disclosed that the President will make pronouncements regarding the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases amid the continues growth of the pandemic in the country.
