Makati City Representative Luis Campos Jr. has a bill seeking to get P1.7 billion to establish 69 residential quarantine facilities all over the country to improve the government's ability to battle against outbreaks in the future.
Campos' House Bill 6546 proposes new quarantine facilities with a minimum of 25 beds each will be put within the grounds of every hospital run by the Health Department.
He added that they are seeking an initial P25 million for the construction of the quarantine facilities from DOH's annual budget for Health Facilities Program.
Campos also said the conversion of the Athlete's Village in New Clark City in Capas, Tarlac as a national quarantine facility clearly showcased the lack of proper lodgings for individuals who need temporary seclusion.
