Mayor Zamora confirms 7 Covid-19 cases in San Juan City

San Juan City has seven confirmed cases of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), City Mayor Francis Zamora announced on Wednesday.

The seven patients are included in the 33 COVID-19 cases in the Philippines reported by the Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday.

Zamora narrated that the fifth case and the first local transmission case in the country frequented the prayer hall in Greenhills.

The mayor said the prayer hall was disinfected and sanitized by the joint task force of San Juan City and DOH.

Of the seven cases, four went to the prayer hall, two had a travel history to Bali, Indonesia, while the other one’s source is still under investigation.

The seven cases are admitted in different health facilities and are in stable condition.

Zamora has issued an executive order on Monday stating that all workplaces, public and private schools must disinfect and sanitize. Public events must also be cancelled to avoid big crowds as social distancing is a precautionary measure against the virus.

The mayor appealed to the public to avoid panicking as the COVID-19 is not deadly compared to other viruses.
