Senate to resume session March 11 due to COVID-19 outbreak

The Senate has suspended its plenary session for a day following the rising cases of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 in the country.

Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri said that the Senate will resume its session on March 11, 1PM.

Zubiri mentioned that senators could still conduct hearings “at their own risk.” He added that with the discretion of senators, the staff do not need to come to work.

Meanwhile, Senators Francis Tolentino and Sherwin Gatchalian said that they would pursue their hearings Tuesday as they have prepared for it for almost a month and some resource persons came from far areas.

Both chambers of Congress are scheduled to have a Lenten break from March 14 to May 3.
