COMELEC suspends voter registration amid COVID-19 outbreak

Commission on Elections (COMELEC) issued a public advisory on Monday suspending voting registration from March 10 to March 31 as a response to the “growing threat” of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the country.

The COMELEC's voting registration suspension takes effect nationwide which includes all of their offices, partner municipalities, and satellite registration activities.

On Monday, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo officially declared the President's order of the COVID-19 outbreak in the country as a “State of Public Health Emergency.”

The President's declaration was prompted by the reported localized transmissions of the deadly virus over the weekend.
